“Signals” Paper Cutout
Joe Boruchow, 2012
Black Paper Cutout on White Satin
11.5" W x 14" H

Known around Philadelphia as a street artist who pastes up bold black and white, stylized paper graphics, Boruchow starts his uncommissioned public installations as paper cutouts in his studio with a #11 XACTO blade. Each piece takes days to complete before it is ready for enlargement and installation at its intended site. His art is informed by traditional paper cutting arts, current politics, and the art of Pennsylvania native, Keith Haring. “Signals” was inspired by the abundance of satellite dishes on 7th Street in South Philadelphia, the neighborhood where Boruchow lives and works.
